Filter & Sort

Find files fast using Kiosk's filtering, sorting, and search system.

The search bar is always visible in the toolbar. It searches across:

  • File names — Any part of the filename
  • Source names — The name of the source directory
  • Custom tags — Any tags you’ve assigned to files

Results update in real-time as you type. The search is case-insensitive.

Kiosk remembers your previous searches and provides autocomplete suggestions via a dropdown.

Filtering

By Category

Click a category in the sidebar to show only that type of content. Each category has its own extension filter, so you’ll only see matching files.

By Source

The toolbar shows toggle buttons for each source in the current category. Click a source button to show or hide its files. Multiple sources can be active at once.

By Favorites

Click the Favorites button (star icon) in the toolbar to show only files you’ve favorited. Favorites are stored separately and persist across sessions.

Sorting

Sort your files by clicking the sort option in the toolbar:

Sort byDescription
NameAlphabetical (A→Z or Z→A)
Date ModifiedNewest or oldest first
File SizeLargest or smallest first
ResolutionBy image/video resolution

The sort direction (ascending/descending) is toggled by clicking the same sort option again.

Merging

Kiosk can intelligently group related files into single tiles:

Image Sequences

When Merge Sequences is enabled (checkbox in toolbar), Kiosk detects frame-numbered files like render_001.exr, render_002.exr, etc. and groups them into a single tile showing the frame range.

Hover over a sequence tile to scrub through frames and preview the animation.

Texture Sets

When Merge Texture Sets is enabled, Kiosk groups PBR textures that share a base name — like wood_basecolor.png, wood_normal.png, wood_roughness.png — into a single tile. This uses the OpenPBR Texture Sets detection system.

Custom Merging Rules

Each source can have merging rules — regex patterns that group files by naming conventions. For example, (*-?k.hdr) groups HDRI files that come in multiple resolutions. Configure these in the source settings within the Content Manager.

Views

The default view. Files are displayed as thumbnail tiles in a responsive grid.

  • Tile size — Adjust with the slider in the toolbar.
  • Lazy loading — Thumbnails load as you scroll (pages of 100).
  • Multi-select — Ctrl+Click to select multiple files.
  • Video preview — Hover over video tiles to scrub frames.

List View

A compact table view showing filenames, paths, sizes, and dates. Supports extended multi-selection for batch operations.

Toggle between views using the Gallery / List buttons in the toolbar.

Folder Tree

The left sidebar contains a collapsible folder tree showing the directory hierarchy of all active sources. Click a folder to filter the gallery to files in that specific directory.

  • Source names appear as root nodes.
  • Expand/collapse folders to navigate your directory structure.
  • Toggle the sidebar with the overlay button on the left edge.
