Advanced Functions
Power-user features and lesser-known capabilities in Kiosk Library.
3D Viewer
Right-click any supported 3D file and select Inspect 3D to open an interactive viewer. Renders your mesh with 3-point lighting, proper normals, UV coordinates, and vertex colors. FBX files also display embedded textures.
Supported formats: .obj, .stl, .ply, .fbx, .gltf, .glb, .usd
Multi-File Export
Select multiple tiles (Ctrl+Click) and click the floating Export button that appears in the bottom-right corner. All selected files are sent to your DCC app in one batch, each executing the configured command stack.
Drag Files to Anywhere
You can drag any file from the Kiosk library directly to another application or folder — just like in Windows Explorer. The original file is used, so nothing is copied.
Hold Shift while dragging to include all variants or the full texture set. For a texture tile this sends every map in the set (base color, roughness, normals, etc.) instead of just the primary file.
Drag & Drop Sources
Drag folders directly onto the Kiosk window to add them as sources. A dialog asks which category and source name to assign. Multiple folders can be dropped at once.
Screen Capture Thumbnails
Use Thumbnail → Capture Thumbnail from the right-click menu to take a fullscreen screenshot. Draw a rubber-band selection around anything on screen — your 3D viewport, a website, a reference image — to use it as the thumbnail.
Video Frame Scrubbing
Hover over any video tile to scrub through frames in real-time. Kiosk extracts frame previews and displays them as you move your mouse across the tile.
Command Stack Editor
The visual Command Stack Editor lets you build multi-step export workflows per category and DCC app. Each command in the stack can be toggled on/off, reordered by dragging, and combined with custom Python scripts.
Open it via the Plugin Manager → select a DCC → edit the command stack.
Favorites
Click the star icon on any tile to favorite it. Use the Favorites toggle in the toolbar to show only favorited files. Favorites persist across sessions and database refreshes.
Filter Presets
When adding a source, click the preset button next to the filter field to choose from built-in collections — “models”, “images”, “videos” — instead of typing extensions manually.
Live Session Mode
When a DCC plugin connects to Kiosk, a green dot appears in the top-right corner indicating a live session. In this mode, the “Export” action sends files directly to the connected DCC app.
Multiple DCC apps can be connected simultaneously, each using its own watch folder.
Studio / Shared Library
In Studio mode, Kiosk reads from a shared database directory on a network drive. Everyone on the team sees the same library index and thumbnails. Set the shared directory in Settings to switch from personal to studio mode. The Studio license supports unlimited seats.
Parent Process Monitoring
When launched from a DCC app via the plugin, Kiosk monitors the parent process. If the DCC app closes, Kiosk closes too — keeping your taskbar clean.
